No Neigh Never

They say seeing is believing but what if you saw a roller-skating horse in Arch 8 at the bottom of Westgate Road?

On Friday evening we shut up shop and headed for the Christmas market to grab some street food. As per the traffic was horrendous so we scooted over the Swing Bridge and into town via the back of Central Station. As we waited to turn into Westgate Road I noticed someone knelt on the pavement taking photos. And – being nosey – I looked to see what of. Just visible in the gloom I could see a horse wearing roller-skates and leggings in the doorway of one of the newly refurbished arches. Really? Yes really! Woah! WT?

“Ah” – said Steve – “that’s the Herb Garden Pizza Kitchen. Richard Marks uses a life size model of a horse to attract attention to his eatery and create a talking point.” Turns out that Steve had been talking to Richard just the other day about getting a Google Business Tour done so already knew the story behind the horse. By day the horse is on parade in his doorway and by night it’s tucked up inside. And why is it wearing roller-skates? To make it easy to move in and out – genious! Well it’s working – we’re talking, we’re blogging, we’re tweeting.

And that’s not the only surprise in store for visitors. Richard has designed and installed a truly unique herb growing system inside the arch and the herbs are used to flavour all the delicious goodies he sells. It’s beautiful, brilliant, and functional. Love it! If their pizzas are even half as good as their story I can’t wait to tuck in!
